'Visual Journal Tokyo' is an intimate look at the culture of the city and Japan through architecture, landscape and gardens of temples and shrines. These photographs were taken between May 26 and June 4, 2014 in Tokyo, as well as Saitama, Yokohama and Kamakura. As a first time visitor to this incredible land of history, tradition, technology, growth, and urbanization, I was struck by the complexity in the beauty of the place. The seeming contradiction of love for gardens while seldom treading on manicured lawns provided an insight to what the Japanese hold most dear. Beautiful work is well tended, nurtured and preserved. The respect to one's space, home, street and city can be found everywhere you look. My hope is that these photos in their own way are paying their respect to a magnificent city and the people who live in it.
