Private Residence, Toronto, Ontario
This private residence was set within a scenic private golf club in Thornhill, small town north of Toronto. While working closely with the architect, the landscape concept was an extension of the building design.

Taking the clearly delineated horizontal layout that define different thresholds of the building, the landscape became several layers of spaces one will experience through an arrival sequence from a welcoming entrance to the extension of living space into the rear garden and beyond. |
|
The landscape thresholds were defined by change of material and landscape walls that fit seamlessly into the design and natural topography. Terraced landscape spaces also fitted gently into the natural terrain while LED lights were integrated into the lines of landscape walls that highlight the horizontality of the rear garden. Other features included a unique pattern of paver stones arranged with pea gravel gaps that were planned in lesser traffic areas while the front entrance paving pattern integrates subtle changes in grade and heat-trace features in the driveway to keep ice from forming in winter time.
